BOOK FAIR and BEAUTIFICATION DAY SIGN-UPS

Good Evening Community Families,

Thank You for Your Service!
On this long Veteran's Day weekend, I'd like to extend a special thank you to our staff, parents, and community members who have served in our armed forces and worked hard for our country. If you know a military vet, make sure to show your appreciation for all they've done. School will be closed on Monday in honor of Veterans Day.

VALET SAFETY REMINDER
It is imperative that everyone follow proper procedure with regard to the valet service. It has come to our attention that some parents are entering through the exit gate at afternoon pick-up. Please enter only through the east gate.  For the safety of ALL students and staff, please abide by the following rules both in the morning (7:30-8:15) and afternoon (2:15-3:00):

1. DO NOT enter through the exit gate. Enter only through the east gate.
2. Children are NOT allowed in the parking lot during carpool hours- 7:30 am-8:15 am & 2:15 pm-3:00 pm.
3. ALL students should load and unload at the curbside only. In the morning, please drop your
student at the valet curb, and then park in the visitor’s lot if you are staying on campus. If you are
parked in the school lot in the afternoon, your student must wait at valet for you to pull your car
around. You do not have to go to the end of the valet line; simply pull around to the valet curb.

The valet attendant will direct you.
4. NEVER walk a student between the parked buses! The valet attendant will cross you and your
student to the other side if your car is parked on the street.
5. NEVER leave your car unattended in the valet line.
6. DO NOT try to drive between the buses and the line of valet cars.
7. Be patient when using the valet service.
8. Drive SLOWLY on school grounds.
Please, let’s all remember that even if you are in a rush, it’s important to be civil and courteous … our kids are watching!

Thank you for your cooperation.

Parent Conferences
Parent conferences are scheduled for November 12-22. This should allow ample time for all parents to schedule a meeting with your child's teacher to discuss academics, behavior, attendance, or any other concern you may have. These conferences are MANDATORY for all students in Grades 1-5 and for those Kindergarten parents who have not yet had a conference with the teacher. Report cards will be given at conferences or sent home by November 22.

Book Fair

If you don’t like to read, you haven’t found the right book.”― J.K Rowling

The Fall Book Fair opens this Tuesday through Friday, November 22nd. Stop by while on campus for Parent Teacher Conferences and/or our Fall Festival.  We have hundreds of titles available, including latest releases of popular series and new books, sure to captivate and inspire all of our students.  Every purchase helps our school, classroom and home libraries. We’re still looking for volunteers, one hour shifts available. Signup on the FreshSchools calendar.
Together we create a love for reading!  See the attached flyers in English and  Korean, for more details.

Pete the Cat visited CMCS's Friday Morning Assembly to kick off the Book Fair!!

Parent Workshop
Please join us as Bronda Eagans Everett, our Assistant Principal- Elementary Instructional Specialist, will be presenting a special Parent Workshop in Room 1 on the topic of Dyslexia Awareness on Friday, November 15 immediately following the Morning Assembly.
Community Beautification Day
Saturday, November 16th (8am-12pm) is School Beautification Day. Come on out, Rain or Shine, to help make Community Magnet even more breathtaking than it already is! Our gardening coordinator, Ana Park, will be leading a team in planting, weeding, pruning, and gardening all across the lower campus. Jeff Hardy will lead the repair/restoration team in repairing wooden planters, tearing down the upper yard sheds, repairing the upper yard PE equipment shed, and restoring pieces of the old benches to incorporate around campus. We are still in need of team leaders to 1) supervise work on teachers' wishlists -- grade level room parents or council members would be perfect for this, and 2) lead the cleaning crew (cleaning tables, PE equipment, organizing sheds). Please click here to sign up for this volunteer event.

Lunch, 12pm-1pm, will be Subway sandwiches from the Fresh Fit menu (black forest ham, turkey breast, roast beef, subway club, or veggie delite), chips, water, and cookie. I will be adding lunch item choices to the Beautification Survey. If you've already completed the survey, please go back and make your lunch selections. If you haven't yet signed up to volunteer, lunch choices are available on the survey when you sign up. Feel free to bring your own lunch, if you prefer.
