PUMP IT UP
. . . just needs ironing!
I'm pumped up for Pump It Up, another fun event -- another first for me! I'm especially excited about this event because it celebrates healthy living, exercise . . . and I get to have PE with the kids! Who could ask for more???
Well, there is more . . .  the theme of this year's event is Super Heroes!!

However, this being my first Pump It Up event, I am a little concerned. I was informed at last Friday's Morning Assembly that one of the Pump It Up prizes would be that students could make me, the principal, into a human ice cream sundae. I'm still in shock. I can't believe it. I'm sure that, when all the students were cheering so gleefully, they didn't quite understand what they were cheering about. Maybe you could talk to your students at home. Share this photo of a real human ice cream sundae . . .

Surely, they wouldn't want this for me.

Important Questions for Discussion:
1. Does this look like fun?
2. Would you really enjoy doing this to Toni, your principal?
3. Is this the best motivation to Pump It Up?

  Back-to-School Night is next week! It will be a very busy night for parents as we introduce our teachers and our new CFF board members, check out the classrooms and textbooks, and learn what our students will be doing and learning this school year. Parents will be asked to sign up for committees and/or Room Parent positions. Community Council nominees will introduce themselves before ballot voting at each grade level. While this event will be a busy and exciting night for parents, that's not necessarily the case for the students! Since they do  not actively participate in this event, they will have an especially long day at school. For these reasons, we ask that you please plan to  make childcare arrangements away from campus. There will be no childcare or supervision available at Back-to-School night. IMPORTANT NEWS REGARDING THE AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM

Dear Community Families, Over the weekend, I was notified that Got Game Camp, our after-school program, would be taking a temporary pause in operation effective immediately. Coach K has contacted all affected families and he and his team are working around the clock to get the program back up and running as soon as possible. We wish them the best of luck in this endeavor and hope for their quick return. Got Game has been a very supportive partner to Community Magnet over the years and has proven time and time again to be a stable and reliable program. However, I understand that many of our families depend on consistent after-school care and are in immediate need of another option. I have been working throughout the weekend to ensure that there would be no interruption in after-school care at Community for those families. I appreciate the immediate response and support  from LAUSD Operations and Beyond the Bell  in helping to find an after-school program for Community as we wait for Got
