JOIN ME FOR TEA TIME with TONI
Hello Community Families,
I hope you've enjoyed a restful Thanksgiving break and are ready to tackle the last 3 school weeks of 2020!
Tea-Time with Toni
Please join me for Tea-Time this Thursday to discuss plans for returning to campus. This will be a meeting, not a webinar, so that I may take questions and concerns. If necessary, I will have a second meeting since the meeting will hold only 300 participants.
I look forward to seeing you there!
DECEMBER DISTRIBUTION DAYS
In addition to the regular distribution materials from teachers, students will also receive Scholastic materials from LAUSD:
To support students and families during the winter break, students will receive either English only or Dual Language book packs for those with Spanish home languages. These book packs contain 4 culturally relevant books, 1 family guide from the Yale Child’s institute and a letter from Superintendent Beutner. These book packs are highly engaging, culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate for PreK-6th Grade, and empower family participation in fostering a love of reading.

SCHOOL EXPERIENCE SURVEYS
Parent ONLINE Surveys
To protect the health and safety of LAUSD families and school staff, parents are encouraged to complete the School Experience Survey online.
To access the online Parent Survey:
1. Go to http://achieve.lausd.net/schoolexperiencesurvey
2. Choose our school from a drop-down menu.
3. Take the survey.
4. Take a screen shot of the “Thank You” page as proof that you've completed the survey.
Note: No login is required to access the online Parent survey.
Confidentiality of Survey Data: It should be noted that all survey results are confidential, and no identifiable data are ever shared with school sites or third parties. Only LAUSD’s Research and Reporting Branch staff (not school site staff) can access the full survey data and must adhere to strict data privacy protocols. Results are only shared in a de-identified format and are publicly reported as summary data only if there is a sample size of at least 11 individuals (students, parents, or staff).
Los Angeles Unified School District is offering free COVID-19 tests to all students. The virus testing program is now underway and our school community is now being tested.
We are asking parents to make an appointment for an initial test now to help us prepare for the opening of school for in-person instruction. Although the date when schools will re-open for in-person instruction is not yet known, taking an initial test now will provide valuable information about the incidence of COVID-19 in the communities we serve. This information will help the scientists, researchers and epidemiologists who are assisting with the program. The baseline testing will help reduce the spread of the disease by identifying those with the virus so they can be kept apart from others.
Immediately prior to the reopening of schools, all students and staff who will be returning to schools, will be provided with a further, back-to-school, baseline test.
Please schedule an appointment beginning on October 9th for your child at https://achieve.lausd.net/covidtestingappt.
You will need your child’s student ID number to schedule an appointment. You may obtain your child’s student ID number by accessing the Parent Portal at https://parentportalapp.lausd.net/parentaccess/ or by calling our LAUSD hotline at 213-443-1300. Once you’ve made the appointment, you will receive a confirmation email with details. Please be prepared to show the email on your phone or print out the confirmation and bring it with you to the appointment.
