Principal Landon and Principal Mallory were busy, busy, busy performing principal duties this past Friday! Their first acts as principals were to add 3 minutes to each recess and to decree Pajama Day for all students and staff. Their first task of the day was to visit each classroom with Phyllis and Kathryn to take Pajama Day photos for the yearbook. During recess duty, Principals Mallory and Landon delegated tasks to Andrew and were very impressed with how well he got the job done. Then, it was back to the office to assist Lalita and Maria with a few office duties. Before long, it was time for lunch. Principals Mallory and Landon invited pals, Vivienne and Kameron, for a delicious lunch of cheese and pepperoni pizzas as they read Kindness Counts and Toni's Treasures coupons with Toni. We were all amazed at how kind the Community students can be! We ended lunch by sharing delicious vanilla and chocolate cupcakes with the office staff. After lunch, we joined Mallory's clas

Celebrating Latinx Heritage Month with 123 Andres ! If you joined us on Friday for our School-Wide Latino Heritage Assembly, you were in for a treat. We were happy and lucky to welcome 123 Andrés today for our virtual assembly celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month. Christina and Andrés are the Latin Grammy winning music duo 123 Andrés, whose catchy songs and lively concerts get the whole family dancing and learning, in Spanish and English. Andrés grew up in Bogotá, Colombia, and learned how to play the guitar from his father at an early age. He had his first studio experience at age 8, and from there he went on to earn a Doctorate in music and won the National Composition Contest in Colombia for one of his early songs. Christina grew up in the Midwest in a Spanish-speaking immigrant family from Colombia. Her love for the stage started when her mom signed her up for theater and dance as a child. After college, she worked in the classroom as a public school teacher, and received a Maste

DISTRICT-WIDE SHAKE-OUT DRILL The Great California ShakeOut is always the 3rd Thursday in October. This is a time when millions of people practice earthquake safety drills throughout California. We, at CMCS, are preparing for the Great ShakeOut by coordinating emergency teams, training staff, practicing drop, cover, and hold on drills with students, and gathering food and supplies. You should practice at home, too, so that your family knows exactly where to go and what to do if an earthquake hits.
