Happy Rosh Hashanah
September 22-24
Schools closed September 23
Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, is a time for fresh starts, reflection, and making things right with others.
The first day of fall is here, bringing some of our most exciting school traditions! This season is always full of energy, creativity, and Community, and we can’t wait to celebrate together.
Our beloved Halloween tradition is just around the corner! Students will showcase their costumes in the Parade of Masks, an event that highlights creativity and school spirit. Parent volunteers will host a activity booths, along with a special Día de los Muertos area, so our community can celebrate in a safe, festive, and multicultural way. Mark your calendars—our celebration will take place on Friday, October 24th. Be sure your student has their costume ready so they can join in the fun!
November brings time for reflection and gratitude. Classes will focus on thankfulness, community, and giving back. Look for details from teachers about classroom activities and opportunities to participate in seasonal projects. We'll also enjoy a full week off for Thanksgiving, November 24-28!
December brings music and joy as our students share their talents in the Winter Program, scheduled for Thursday, December 18. This special event is always a highlight, and my personal favorite celebration of the school year, with songs and performances that bring our community together before the holiday season. Parents, please plan to attend this special event. You really don't want to miss it!!
After a busy and exciting fall, we’ll all be ready for a well-deserved Winter Break, December 22-January 9—a time to rest, recharge, and enjoy family traditions.
Just in time for the holidays, I’m excited to share that the main office will soon be getting brand-new flooring! For years, every heavy rain left the carpet soaked, raising ongoing concerns about mold and mildew. After many requests, the district has approved the replacement. This upgrade will make our office brighter, healthier, and more welcoming for everyone.
PLEASE NOTE: The main office will be closed from September 29th through October 10th while the work is completed. During this time, office staff will be housed in Room 1, and Kids-4-College will be temporarily relocated to Rooms 23, 26, and the library.
Thank you for your patience and flexibility as we make this much-needed improvement!
Fall is a season for learning, creating, and celebrating together. We can’t wait to make memories with all of you!
Best,
Toni
Welcome Back, 5th Graders!
We missed our 5th graders while they were off exploring the stars in Idyllwild! Their 3-day AstroCamp adventure was filled with new discoveries, exciting challenges, and memories they’ll never forget. From stargazing to hands-on experiments, they got to experience science in a whole new way—and we can’t wait to hear their favorite moments! A big thank you to our dedicated 5th grade teachers and parent chaperones who made this trip possible by guiding and supporting our students every step of the way.
The Wheels on the Bus… Need a Little Fixing
I'd like to thank our Bus Supervisor, Gabriel Rodriguez, Kate, and all of the parents who attended Friday's Parent Meeting to discuss bus transportation. In response to some of the concerns, . . .
- Gabriel will notify the school of any route/bus changes at dismissal. Lalita will notify parents via Fresh Schools prior to dismissal.
- We have created a form for parents to let us know of problems, questions, or concerns about bus transportation. Click here or go to communitymagnetces.lausd.org > Parent Resources > Bus Transportation Concerns to share your concerns. (Thanks for this idea, Jamie!)

- HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
- Minimum Day, 12:50 dismissal
- Arrive at CMCS between 7:30 and 8:00
- Enter through the gate on the EAST side of the school.
- Drive along the left curb. The right curb is a bus lane whether or not the buses have arrived.
- Wait patiently in a single file line along the left curb of the driveway.
- When a valet volunteer or LAUSD staff directs you, turn right at the parking lot and pull up to the Valet Curb. There can be a maximum of 3 cars at the Valet Curb.
- Under no circumstances can you park with your child and walk them through the parking lot. If, especially during these first weeks of school, you want to walk your child to the front gate, you MUST drop your child at the Valet Curb and then park your car. Your child can wait for you near the valet volunteers on the bench by the Valet Curb.
- When you arrive at the Valet Curb, your child should be ready to exit the car from the passenger side of the vehicle. IF a passenger side exit from your vehicle is unavailable, your child must wait until a valet volunteer opens the driver side door and escorts them in front of your car onto the curb.
- Under no circumstances should the driver exit the vehicle.
- Do not pull around cars in the valet line including at the Valet Curb. The line is single file from the east gate entrance through to the west gate exit. Please wait your turn to drop off your child and to exit campus.
- FINALLY, be patient and kind. The valet volunteers and LAUSD staff are there for the safety of your children. Please treat them, the children, and the other drivers with respect.
