Let's Welcome Fall!

Let's Welcome Fall!

Fall begins Wednesday, September 22. I love Fall because it brings football season, sweater weather, and two of my favorite holidays, Halloween and Thanksgiving!

Community usually celebrates Halloween with the very popular Parade of Masks (PoM). In 2019, PoM was cancelled due to school closures caused by brushfires in the hills near our school. Once school reopened, we celebrated with an amazing Harvest Festival complete with costumes, booths, and delicious food provided by the Korean PTA Moms.  In 2020, school closures again altered our PoM plans. We had a fun-filled Halloween Car Parade instead. The entire upper yard was decorated from end to end with tombs, ghosts, giant spiders and even a beautiful Dia de Los Muertos altar! Festive Halloween music played as car loads of costumed families drove through the display.  Although both celebrations were great fun and very exciting, I am hoping for a return to the more traditional Parade of Masks this year!

Daylight Savings Time ends on Sunday, November 7th when we turn clocks back and gain one hour of sleep. I could use an extra hour of sleep! As fall settles in, days get shorter, nights get longer, and before we know it, we will be celebrating Thanksgiving with family and friends and reflecting on the many blessings of the year. Though we're still dealing with the challenges of this pandemic, there is so much for which we can be thankful. I am thankful that we may once again enjoy Thanksgiving with family and friends!
