An Exciting First Week of School!

Welcome Back, Community Families!

It has been an exciting first week of school! I'd like to give a very special shout out to those who worked through the summer (or most of it) to get our campus and classes ready for the new school year: our plant staff, Andrew, Jovany, and Rick, and office staff, Lalita and Maria!! This first day of school couldn't happen without them!

Thanks to everyone in our school community for getting this school year off to a wonderful start. We are all ready to learn, achieve, and grow together! 💙💙

Check out these happy photos of families, students, and staff on our first day of the 22-23 school year!

CLOSED CAMPUS BEGINNING MONDAY, AUGUST 22

During our first week back, parents have enjoyed walking students to their classes and visiting with friends and staff before and after school. However, for the safety and security of all students and staff, we will return to a closed-campus beginning Monday, August 22.  When visiting our campus for any reason, parents must enter through the main office, sign in and out of the visitor's log, and have the principal's permission to be on campus. SAFE & APPROPRIATE SHOES AND CLOTHING

If you've been on our school grounds, you know that large cracks and crevices can be found all across our campus, including the parking lots and upper yard. This can be dangerous for anyone wearing heels or open-toe shoes. Please make sure that you send your child to school wearing shoes and clothing that are safe and appropriate for school activities and walking around campus. If your child wears open-toed footwear to school, you will be called to bring appropriate footwear to school.

ENRICHMENT CLASSES BEGIN THIS WEEK!!!!

Enrichment is a BIG DEAL at Community Magnet! This week, all enrichment classes are set to begin.

  • Every week, each K-5 class receives one block of library, technology, and PE.
  • All students receive drama, visual art, vocal music,  robotics and dance instruction.
  • 5th grade students receive ballroom dancing instruction.
  • Students are offered chess lessons during lunch. Kindergarteners receive chess lessons in class.

Community Council

We NEED parents on our Council!

Would you like to help make important decisions affecting our school? Are you willing to tackle school-wide problems head on? Would you enjoy collaborating with other stakeholders in our school community? Then, Community Council is the committee for you. Click here to read more about the Council and to submit your nomination. Self-nominations need to be emailed on or before the August 25th deadline. Nominees will share their Statements of Candidacy with grade-level parents at Back to School Night. Voting by ballot will take place that same evening.

Friday Morning Assemblies

We will continue to hold Friday morning assemblies virtually this school year. Why? We've found that our students' schedules are so packed with enrichment activities, it's difficult to schedule school-wide

assemblies for all classes to attend at the same time. During morning assemblies, we will make important announcements, kick-off special events, introduce social-emotional, character-building, and/or school-wide positive behavior topics, and present the "Toni Awards" where we recognize Students of the Week and Above & Beyond Club members from all classes. Parents are welcome to ZOOM in every Friday morning at 8:30 a.m. to view the assembly. Click here to log in. The same link will be used each week.  Our first assembly will be Friday, August 26th.
