Neighborhood Events and Picture Day!

Dear Parents, Students, and Friends of Community Magnet Charter School,

Back-to-School Night was the highlight of last week! It was great to see you all come out to get to know your new teachers, learn about the new curriculum, and see what's new on campus. Congratulations again to our new Community Council parent representatives and CFF room parents! Meetings for both groups are coming up soon.

The weather has been HOT! The Lost and Found racks are full of sweaters and jackets and even a couple of cute little skirts! Please remind your little ones to check the rack for their lost items to bring home. When you're on campus, don't forget to check the rack yourself, for your little one is sure to forget. Many of the items are labelled with the names of the owners, which is a great idea!

This week comes with a few opportunities to schmooze, mingle, and get to know other parents in your neighborhood! It's also a great way to learn how you can help the students at CMCS.  I'll be there early, so I hope to see you! Actually, this is really doing something for my social life!!           Let's see, on Tuesday, September 10, there will be a neighborhood meeting in Hancock Park beginning at 8:30 hosted by Amy and Charles. Then, on Wednesday, September 11, there will be another neighborhood meeting. This one will be in Encino beginning at 8:00 hosted by Caro and Alexis. There will be two more next week for those who live near Beverly Grove and Sherman Oaks.

Don't forget Dine & Donate at four California Pizza Kitchen locations on Thursday, September 12th!  All four CPK locations (Beverly Hills, Culver City, Encino, and Hollywood & Highland) will be participating in this event from 11am until 10pm. I LOVE CPK! I wish I could still eat my favorite dish, chicken tequila fettucine,  but at 1210 calories, I've had to let it go. But, anyway, you can dine in, take out, have it delivered, or even cater an event and you have to eat, so . . .

Thursday, September 12th is also PICTURE DAY! Don't be like my Mom when I was in first grade and send your little one to school without properly combing her hair!! She'll NEVER let you live it down! I'm just letting you know!

Martha will be back this week with her after-school musical theater class in Tuesday, September 10 at 1:45-4:45 and improv drama classes (during school) on Wednesday, September 11.

That's all the news for this week. Thank you for all you do!! Have a great week!

All My Best,
Toni
