Back to School Night is Thursday!

California Admission Day commemorates the day in 1850 when California became the 31st state admitted to the United States, entering the Union on September 9, 1850, as part of the Compromise of 1850.
Labor Day is a day when we recognize and thank the people whose work helps our communities and our country.
In the midst of the heatwave, we were also happy to welcome our new Cafeteria Manager, Rania Potres, who has jumped right into her new role without missing a beat! We’re so glad to have Rania as part of our Community team and appreciate all she is already doing to keep our cafeteria running smoothly.
Our first Parent Volunteer Orientation meeting was held on Friday. We love having our parents involved on campus and appreciate the time and energy you give to our students and staff. All parent volunteers must attend one of the mandatory orientations before they may begin volunteering on campus, so please be sure to attend if you plan to volunteer this year. Kate will host two more orientation meetings on September 2nd and on Back-to-School Night.
The registration link for Math Kangaroo is below, and classes will begin on Monday, October 5th. If your child has a passion, talent, or special interest in math, this may be the perfect club for them!
Students who join Math Kangaroo are expected to attend classes on Mondays and select Saturdays and will also be registered to compete in the Math Kangaroo Competition in March. Parents, your encouragement and support at home will be an important part of the experience, too. Space is limited to 120 students, so be sure to register early!
As we head into our long weekend, here’s a little California history! California Admission Day is September 9, commemorating California’s admission to the Union as the 31st state in 1850. And, of course, Labor Day is celebrated on the first Monday in September, honoring the contributions and achievements of American workers and the labor movement.
As for me, I plan to make the most of the extra time off! I hope to enjoy a relaxing spa day with my sister, squeeze in a couple of Pilates classes, work on a jigsaw puzzle, catch up on some reading, and fire up the grill for chicken and turkey burgers. I may will even sip a little sangria (yum!) along the way. Mostly, though, I’m looking forward to slowing down, recharging, and enjoying the long weekend!
However you choose to spend the holiday, I hope you and your family enjoy a fun, safe, and well-deserved four-day weekend!
Best,
Toni
Even if you haven’t completed your volunteer application yet, please attend! This orientation is for ALL families interested in volunteering.
