A Night to Remember
A NIGHT TO REMEMBER
What a night! The Sweethearts Family Dance was such an exciting, lively, and fun family event! I was warned not to miss this particular Community event (not that I would) because of the sheer magic and happiness it brings to everyone in our school community. It actually felt like Disneyland -- everyone was in a great mood with lots of smiles, cute little princess girls in beautiful dresses, delicious foods, amazing lemonade, colorful glow sticks, lots of dancing, and the best DJs I've ever seen or heard at a school dance! Boy, were they amazing-- with the music pumping, they got EVERYONE on the dance floor!!
Speaking of the dance floor: did you catch me flossing on the dance floor??? ๐(I finally understand why they call it flossing . . . duh!) I even almost learned the hop-on-one-foot-while-pumping-the-other-foot-with-the-same-side-arm pumping-in-the-opposite-direction-in-the-air dance. I don't know what it's called, but I couldn't get my coordination to work on that one. I'll have to practice for next time. If you saw me trying it, please don't bring it up in conversation - and NO CIRCULATING PICTURES -- ESPECIALLY ON SOCIAL MEDIA PLEASE.
Anyway, check out the Past Events page to see pictures of some very happy kids and adults at what had to be the happiest party on Earth!
Val-o-Grams
Valentine's Day is right around the corner, so don't forget to purchase a Val-O-Gram from our student council members. They're only $1 and proceeds will go towards our 5th grade End-of-Year activities! This is a great way to tell a friend or teacher how special they are!! ๐๐๐งก๐๐ค๐ค๐๐๐ค๐
Meet the Green Team
A few weeks ago, I asked for help from a few parents who could help students get some service projects off the ground. Well, a couple of parents did just that! Mandy and Tara offered their time and expertise to give fourth graders, Leona and Jessica, some help with their ideas to make our campus more environmentally friendly. They had a lot of great ideas and so, the Green Team was born! During their first meeting, they discussed ways to decrease the use of plastics in the cafeteria, begin composting, and to get students collecting recyclables to raise money. They also had really fun ideas to recycle and reuse, like a fashion and/or art show showcasing art and clothing made entirely from recycled materials!
Thank you, Green Team, for caring so much about our campus and our environment.
Pump It Up
Pump It Up is back! This is a great way for you to motivate your child to get active and support Community at the same time. Pump It Up will be Friday, March 6th on the upper yard as students participate in a heart-pumping 3K run/walk. Stay tuned for more information in my next blog, on Fresh Schools, and at this Friday's Morning Assembly when we Kick-Off this heart-racing event!
Enrichment Classes
Beginning next week, I will feature a different enrichment class on my blog each week. Parents want to know what's happening in these classes so I will interview the teachers, take pics in class, and talk to the students. This is a project that I'm sure a few students wouldn't mind helping me with, so don't be surprised if this part of my blog is written by a few of our talented Community students! If this could be your child, send them my way! And stay tuned!
