June is Pride Month!
Dear Community Families,
Hooray! All of our academic testing for the 2024–2025 school year is officially complete! While teaching and learning will continue through the final days of the semester, our campus will take on a more festive feel as we celebrate with end-of-year activities—including classroom parties, the annual Staff vs. 5th Grade Kickball Game, fifth grade culmination events, and our can't-miss Bubble Parade on the last day of school. Please make every effort to have your child present so they don’t miss out on the fun! And don’t forget—Friday, June 6, and Monday, June 9, are minimum days with a 12:50 p.m. dismissal. The last day of school, Tuesday, June 10, will be a shortened day with dismissal at 1:30 p.m.
This week, our 5th graders will kick things off with an Ice Cream Social on Monday and wrap it all up with their Culmination Ceremony on Friday. We are incredibly proud of this remarkable group and excited to see what the future holds for each of them.
Over the past few weeks, we’ve had so much to celebrate—highlights include the Math Kangaroo Ceremony, our Retirement Celebration Breakfast, and International Children's Day. Be sure to check out some great photos from these memorable events below.
Wishing you a wonderful weekend!

MESSAGE FROM MATH KANGAROO CLUB:
Dear CMCS families,
Mathclub, in collaboration with Region West LAUSD and the leading math curriculum developer AoPS, is excited to announce a wonderful free math learning resource for the summer: Beast Academy Online!
The free summer subscription to this web based math curriculum is open to all CMCS students. Beast Academy’s unique visual story based approach combined with meaningful depth and complexity as well as it’s child centered, differentiated learning approach, is a great way to turn the dreaded “summer learning loss” to a summer of learning growth! We believe in every child's natural capacity for creative mathematical problem solving and are passionate about supporting and growing that gift through a family math and community based approach.

CMCS Math Club
- Arrive at CMCS between 7:30 and 8:00
- Enter through the gate on the EAST side of the school.
- Drive along the left curb. The right curb is a bus lane whether or not the buses have arrived.
- Wait patiently in a single file line along the left curb of the driveway.
- When a valet volunteer or LAUSD staff directs you, turn right at the parking lot and pull up to the Valet Curb. There can be a maximum of 3 cars at the Valet Curb.
- Under no circumstances can you park with your child and walk them through the parking lot. If, especially during these first weeks of school, you want to walk your child to the front gate, you MUST drop your child at the Valet Curb and then park your car. Your child can wait for you near the valet volunteers on the bench by the Valet Curb.
- When you arrive at the Valet Curb, your child should be ready to exit the car from the passenger side of the vehicle. IF a passenger side exit from your vehicle is unavailable, your child must wait until a valet volunteer opens the driver side door and escorts them in front of your car onto the curb.
- Under no circumstances should the driver exit the vehicle.
- Do not pull around cars in the valet line including at the Valet Curb. The line is single file from the east gate entrance through to the west gate exit. Please wait your turn to drop off your child and to exit campus.
- FINALLY, be patient and kind. The valet volunteers and LAUSD staff are there for the safety of your children. Please treat them, the children, and the other drivers with respect.
