The Faces of Our Future

The Faces of Our Future I realize that quite a few of our new families have not yet had the opportunity to visit our beautiful school and, therefore, haven't seen firsthand the beautiful murals, totem poles, and artwork that enhance the natural beauty of Community's campus. If you haven't yet, please take a  virtual tour of our campus .  I often wonder about the beautiful artwork and am told wonderful stories about how they came to be. I'd like to share the story behind "The Faces of Our Future" from the artist herself, Emily Stuver, who also happens to be a former CMCS teacher: Community Magnet Charter School Totem Fifteen years ago, a call for artists in residence went out; to create an installation of outdoor sculptures called Totem Row for Community Magnet School (not a charter yet).  I jumped at the chance.  As a former CMS 3rd grade teacher on family leave, I knew the school’s mission, philosophy, heart, and soul as well as my own.  In fact, in many ways

Hello Community Families, January 2021 is quickly coming to a close. After two weeks back at it, we are in full instructional swing at Community Magnet. This second semester of 2020-2021 will be packed with activities, assessments, and events. So be sure to check our CMCS websites, Fresh Schools and    communitymagnet.org , for updates and news. Join us every Monday at 9am for the Monday Morning Message and every month for Tea Time with Toni. MONDAY MORNING MESSAGE RETURNS I am very excited for the return of the Monday Morning Message this Monday, January 25 at 9:00 a.m. This week, I will introduce new staff, Student Council will tell us  about February Val-O-Grams, Lela Rondeau, CMCS parent and LAUSD Coordinator of Instruction in the Special Ed. Division, will share a presentation on Disability Awareness and offer a challenge-of-the-week to all students and, of course, we will recognize our Students-of-the-Week and Staff Spotlights. Welcome 2021!!

Happy New Year, Community! Welcome to the first school week of 2021!!  As we begin the second semester, all LAUSD school campuses remain closed due to the dangerous rise in COVID-19 cases in Los Angeles. While our campus is closed, you may still reach us by calling our main office phone number, 310-476-2281 or via email (see contact list below).  Be sure to tune in Mondays at 8:00 a.m. for Superintendent Austin Beutner's weekly LAUSD updates.
