CMCS HYBRID MODEL
CMCS will be following the am/pm hybrid model. To date and as we wait for all program selection surveys to be submitted, each teacher will provide in-person instruction for AM cohorts of up to 14 students depending on classroom space. PM cohorts may be in-person or online. PM cohorts may be taught by the student's original teacher, another grade level teacher, or a substitute.
CHILDCARE
Will there be full-day childcare outside of the 3 hrs. of instruction?
Yes, the Beyond the Bell (BTB) Student Supervision Program will be operating 8am-4pm at no cost and available to all students who select the need for childcare on the Program Selection Survey and are attending in-person.
How will childcare/BTB work with distancing? Where will it be held? What is there are a lot of people that use that option, more than the BTB/YS staff can manage?
In addition to the available campus space, the district is working with cities and others to utilize outside/off-site facilities, if needed, to accommodate all students in need of childcare.
Will there be a number cap on how many students may remain beyond the 3-hour instruction?
No, LAUSD is working to provide childcare to all who select this need on the Program Selection Survey.
How will cohorts work with Beyond the Bell?
Principals will be working with BTB to establish cohorts during instructional hours as well as during BTB time. According to the latest LA County Dept. of Public Health guidelines, students can be part of different cohorts than they would be during the instructional day.
Will there be more people available?
BTB is working to provide the staff needed.
COVID TESTING
Will the school arrange a self-test COVID testing provider set up weekly at the school for all families?
Yes, weekly COVID testing will occur at each school site.
TRANSPORTATION
How will the children be transported on the school bus and social distance?
Students/staff are allowed to occupy every seat- in front, behind, or to the side, but not in the same seat unless they live in the same household.
TEACHER
If they go back to campus, are they guaranteed to stay with their teacher? If they stay home, will they have a different teacher?
On the Return to School Survey, whether we choose the in-person or the remote learning option, will the students remain with their current teacher?
There is no guarantee. It will depend on results from the parent survey.
If we opt to remain virtual. Does that mean our student will have a substitute teacher in that virtual environment?
We will try to avoid having substitutes. Of course, staffing will be determined by results of the parent survey.
When will we know which teachers by grade will remain to do online and which are doing in-person hybrid instruction?
All teachers will be returning to teach from campus whether their cohorts are online or in-person.
Is there a way to ensure that we keep our teacher? If we choose remote but then learn that will mean getting a new teacher will we have the opportunity to change our minds and rejoin the class- or vice versa?
There is no way to ensure that every student will keep their teacher.
Why will kids who choose to stay online have a new teacher?
It’s possible that online students will have their same teacher. It depends on the parent survey results.
We want to stay with our Kinder teacher. Will the teachers be teaching an in-person cohort (AM) and their second cohort online (PM)?
A teacher’s cohorts will either consist of 2 in-person cohorts or AM in person and PM online.
If we stayed virtual, is the plan to have a CMCS teacher, or someone random teacher from LAUSD?
We are hoping to stay within our CMCS community of teachers.
When will we hear more about the transportation?
