 NEWER NEW COVID UPDATES

Effective Monday, January 24:

  • Beginning the week of January 24th, and until further notice, students are required to wear well-fitting, non-cloth masks of multiple layers with a nose wire.
  • Asymptomatic students will no longer be identified as close contacts and will not be subject to modified or at home quarantine.
  • Quarantine at home applies only to symptomatic close contacts, and those with household exposure who are not fully vaccinated or recovered from COVID-19 in the past 90 days.
  • Individuals currently under modified quarantine orders may be released from quarantine effective immediately, if they are asymptomatic. 
  • If a student does not participate in the mobile testing program on campus, they must test and upload the external lab-confirmed PCR test result via Daily Pass, on a weekly basis.

Shortened Isolation Rapid Antigen Test Sites


Webster Middle School
Virginia Road Elementary School (opening 1/24/22)


Hours of Operation: 
Monday-Friday - 7:15 AM to 4:30 PM
Saturdays - 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. 

Saturdays (1/22;1/29;2/5; 2/12; 2/26 -Saturdays after February 2022 TBD)

No appointment necessary - these are walk-up facilities


Please read the fine print:

  • Please do not walk up to any stationary testing site if you or your child is positive, even if you do not have symptoms.
  • Shortened Isolation Testing Sites are designated ONLY for students and employees who have tested positive for Covid-19, currently in isolation, and need a rapid antigen test on or around Day 5
  • NO close contacts  
  • NO PCR Testing at this site
  • Students and employees should be prepared to show verification of their last PCR test result 
  • Students and employees will need to walk-up and test onsite with our vendor, AMI
  • The Shortened Isolation Testing Site at Webster and Virginia Road Elementary are NOT  drive-thru sites. All students and employees must exit their vehicle to take a Rapid Antigen Test.
  • Employees and parents are responsible for the uploading of test results to the Daily Pass
  • If necessary, lines will be stopped not later than 4:15 PM M-F in order to ensure a 4:30 PM closure of the site; 3:45 p.m. on Saturdays
  • Rapid Antigen Test will NOT be distributed at any stationary site throughout the district, including Audubon and Beethoven EEC's Covid-19 Testing Site, effective Monday, January 24, 2022
  • All district Covid-19 Symptomatic Drive-thru Sites will serve ONLY symptomatic employees and students, effective Monday, January 24, 2022. Anyone who goes to a symptomatic site will receive a PCR or a saliva test ONLY. 
  • If a student or employee is symptomatic, they should go to test in their vehicle at a symptomatic site ONLY such Audubon, Gage or Gardena, no walk-ups

  Back-to-School Night is next week! It will be a very busy night for parents as we introduce our teachers and our new CFF board members, check out the classrooms and textbooks, and learn what our students will be doing and learning this school year. Parents will be asked to sign up for committees and/or Room Parent positions. Community Council nominees will introduce themselves before ballot voting at each grade level. While this event will be a busy and exciting night for parents, that's not necessarily the case for the students! Since they do  not actively participate in this event, they will have an especially long day at school. For these reasons, we ask that you please plan to  make childcare arrangements away from campus. There will be no childcare or supervision available at Back-to-School night. IMPORTANT NEWS REGARDING THE AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM

Dear Community Families, Over the weekend, I was notified that Got Game Camp, our after-school program, would be taking a temporary pause in operation effective immediately. Coach K has contacted all affected families and he and his team are working around the clock to get the program back up and running as soon as possible. We wish them the best of luck in this endeavor and hope for their quick return. Got Game has been a very supportive partner to Community Magnet over the years and has proven time and time again to be a stable and reliable program. However, I understand that many of our families depend on consistent after-school care and are in immediate need of another option. I have been working throughout the weekend to ensure that there would be no interruption in after-school care at Community for those families. I appreciate the immediate response and support  from LAUSD Operations and Beyond the Bell  in helping to find an after-school program for Community as we wait for Got
