Principal for the Day: Principal Harlem

Mom giving Harlem a kiss for good luck. 💕

This past Friday, Toni had a break from administrative duties as 2nd grader Harlem J. took over as Principal for the Day! Harlem's mom made sure Harlem was dressed for success and wished her luck on her important day. Harlem went right to work helping with the Friday Morning Assembly. Then, she visited every single classroom to make sure every teacher, student and TA was on-task and working. Harlem then delivered personal reminders to staff members who had not yet completed mandatory trainings. She checked in on Andrew as he hosed down the cafeteria tables  and on cafeteria manager, Madliene, as she prepared

the recess snacks. Finally, Harlem took a  lunch break with friends, Ella and Elijah. Then, back to work - she brought two students to the office who were not getting along and then to the auditorium to host the Hispanic/Latino Heritage Assembly. Whew, what a day! I have to give it to Harlem- she was an EXCELLENT Principal for the Day!!!

Hispanic/Latino Heritage Assembly
¡Baila Baila!

                                ¡Mira bailar a tus maestra/os!

Baila Baila had everyone on their pies, clapping their manos, and shaking their cabezas throughout the high energy interactive music concert! Isa played her guitar and sang songs in Spanish, helping students learn new Spanish words along the way. Just take a look at these photos to see for yourself that our students (and teachers) had un tiempo de diversión!

We send a huge thank you to the amazing parents who brought Baila Baila to our school, decorated the auditorium, and provided delicious churros and homemade horchata for everyone: Kendra G. (Bruce, Gr. 5) and her beautiful Mom, Alejandra, Fabiola B. (Camila, Gr. 2), Ana M. (David, Gr. 3 and Thomas and Aaron, Gr. 1), and Kate H. (Samantha, Gr. 5 and Josephine, Gr. 3). Gracias, Madres!

Next Up: Keep an eye out for information about Hispanic/Latino Heritage performances by our 3rd grade classes on Wednesday, November 2.
