NO SCHOOL

You may have noticed that our new website,   https://communitymagnetces.lausd.org/ is finally live, though it’s still a work in progress. Thank you for your patience as we continue to update and finalize it. We’re excited to share the finished product with you soon!

Dear Community Families,

SBAC Testing is complete for Grades 3–5! Thank you, parents, for ensuring your children were present during this important testing window. We appreciate your partnership!

The SBAC results play a crucial role in shaping our school’s future—including budgeting, academic programs, teacher professional development, and the overall flexibility of our school plan for the coming year. Stay tuned for results!

Meanwhile, testing continues for just one more week for Grades K–2 as students complete their end-of-year i-Ready assessments.

Thank you for your continued support!

This past week, our 1st and 2nd grade students honored Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month through poetry, lively songs, and beautifully crafted "gers"—traditional Mongolian homes. With the guidance of their dedicated teachers, our students showcased the rich diversity that makes Community Magnet Charter School so special.

A special thank-you to Alice and 1st grade parent, Eun Mi (Kayla L., 1st. grade), for their invaluable support in helping the students prepare! Thank you, Eun Mi, for accompanying them on the piano!

Our annual Talent Show was a dazzling display of talent, energy, and heart! Fourth and Fifth grade students took to the stage to share their passions and amaze the audience with a wide variety of acts.

The show included a jaw-dropping yo-yo performance wowing the crowd with precision tricks and lightning-fast moves. Also included was a graceful gymnastics routine, filled with flips, cartwheels, and impressive balance, earning big cheers from classmates and parents alike.

The spotlight was on all of the musical performances, including beautiful piano solos and heartfelt vocal performances that moved the audience. We even had students showcase their rapping skills, combining rhythm, clever lyrics, and confident delivery that had the whole room excited.

A powerful karate demonstration brought excitement to the stage, with a student breaking boards and performing choreographed moves that showed strength and discipline.

From start to finish, the talent show was a joyful celebration of student creativity, hard work, and courage. It was a reminder that every child has something special to share—and our school community couldn’t be more proud! Check out their photos below.

Have a great Memorial Day weekend!

Best,

Toni

VALET RULES

For the SAFETY of your child and ALL children and parents at CMCS, if you are driving your child to school you MUST follow these valet rules.
    • Arrive at CMCS between 7:30 and 8:00
    • Enter through the gate on the EAST side of the school.
    • Drive along the left curb.  The right curb is a bus lane whether or not the buses have arrived.
    • Wait patiently in a single file line along the left curb of the driveway.
    • When a valet volunteer or LAUSD staff directs you, turn right at the parking lot and pull up to the Valet Curb.  There can be a maximum of 3 cars at the Valet Curb.
    • Under no circumstances can you park with your child and walk them through the parking lot. If, especially during these first weeks of school, you want to walk your child to the front gate, you MUST drop your child at the Valet Curb and then park your car.  Your child can wait for you near the valet volunteers on the bench by the Valet Curb.
    • When you arrive at the Valet Curb, your child should be ready to exit the car from the passenger side of the vehicle.  IF a passenger side exit from your vehicle is unavailable, your child must wait until a valet volunteer opens the driver side door and escorts them in front of your car onto the curb.
    • Under no circumstances should the driver exit the vehicle.
    • Do not pull around cars in the valet line including at the Valet Curb.  The line is single file from the east gate entrance  through to the west gate exit.  Please wait your turn to drop off your child and to exit campus.
    • FINALLY, be patient and kind.  The valet volunteers and LAUSD staff are there for the safety of your children.  Please treat them, the children, and the other drivers with respect.
